Bio:

Monika Salkar is a Ph.D. student in the Pharmacy Administration Department at University of Mississippi. She completed her bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Mumbai University, India. Monika earned her master’s degree in Health Outcomes and Socioeconomic Sciences from University of Toledo.

Monika’s PhD research majorly focuses on long-term opioid use in the elderly. She is also interested in patients reported outcomes (PRO) for chronic conditions such as sickle cell disease, diabetes, psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Interests:

Dr.  Barnard’s teaching interests in the professional pharmacy curriculum include health behavior, pharmacoepidemiology, and women’s health.  At the graduate level she teaches pharmaceutical marketing and patient behavior, as well as research methods.  Her research focuses on public health issues in pharmacy, including vaccination behavior and intimate partner violence, STEM education, and health outcomes research.
