Pharmacy Careers

PharmacyForMe

The School of Pharmacy provides students with various programming activities throughout the year to assist their professional development. The school year begins with the White Coat Ceremony during pharmacy orientation and culminates with graduation in May. Scheduled assemblies and programs throughout the year include guests to speak on various topics, service and outreach opportunities, and social events.

White Coat Ceremony

Each August, first-year professional students take part in the school’s White Coat Ceremony as part of new student orientation. The white coat is the universal symbol of professionalism in healthcare, and the ceremony formally recognizes and fosters students’ commitment to professionalism. Family and friends are invited as the students embark on their School of Pharmacy journey.

Student Assemblies

Student assemblies are scheduled periodically on the Oxford and Medical Center campuses to present programs on various topics. Speakers with different backgrounds in pharmacy share their experiences with students. These experiences equip students to decide regarding their Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences and, ultimately, which type of pharmacy they choose to practice.

Awards Day

The school recognizes student leadership and achievements each April with an Awards Day ceremony. Class teaching awards are also presented during the ceremony.

Patch Ceremony

Student pharmacists participate in the Patch Ceremony during the spring semester of their third professional year. The ceremony recognizes that students have completed pharmacy classwork training and will be on advanced pharmacy practice rotations as part of the medical team.

Commencement

Students participate in two graduation ceremonies while in pharmacy school. Following their first professional year, students receive their Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences and their Doctor of Pharmacy degree upon successful completion of all four years of the professional program. Commencement at Ole Miss is another unique feature of our great university, and each school has different ceremonies to celebrate its graduates.
