In our 2+4 PharmD Program, third-year students (P3s) make the transition to our state's capital to learn at our Instructional Facility in Jackson.
This transition is vital to our students' growth as health care professionals. You will have the opportunity to learn in some of the state's best medical facilities. Third-year pharmacy students take courses at our Jackson campus, located at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, allowing them to benefit from the academic strength of the medical center and the interprofessional collaboration opportunities available at other professional schools at UMMC. Learning from leading experts in their respective fields offers priceless education. This strong and collaborative partnership makes our program truly unique.

The Patch Ceremony
The Patch Ceremony is a proud and symbolic tradition at the Jackson Campus, marking a pivotal transition for student pharmacists as they begin their final year of clinical rotations. During the ceremony, each student receives a commemorative patch to wear on their white coat, representing their commitment to the profession and the responsibilities they carry as future pharmacists. It’s a celebration of hard work, growth, and the journey ahead in service to patients and the community.
Student Mentoring
Our faculty and staff come from many different fields of expertise and backgrounds in life. While students are at the Jackson Campus during their P3 year, they will have the opportunity to grow professionally, being mentored by some of the brightest leaders in the pharmacy and medical world!
Study Spaces and Social Events
During your time on the Jackson Campus, you will have access to amazing study spaces for you to collaborate with professors and classmates, learning all about medication therapies. You will also have the opportunity to participate in fun social activities hosted by our student body, the staff, and clubs and organizations.
Partnerships
University of Mississippi Medical Center/Interprofessional Education
Pharmacy students will have the opportunity during their tenure at the Jackson campus to embrace the fantastic facilities and research opportunities at UMMC. Students will also participate in Interprofessional education experiences with the UMMC's 6 medical school divisions. These critical experiences of working with other disciplines like medicine, dentistry, PT, OT, and nursing offer students the ability to become well-rounded health care providers.
Jackson Free Clinic
The Jackson Free Clinic is a student-run non-profit organization offering medical, dental, pharmaceutical, psychiatric services, physical therapy, and occupational therapy to uninsured patients in the Jackson metropolitan area.
Rotational Sites
The Jackson metropolitan area offers pharmacy students a wide variety of experiential rotation sites that support diverse areas of practice. Students can gain hands-on experience in settings such as weight and diabetes management, pediatrics, neurology, ambulatory care, community pharmacy, and hospital pharmacy. This broad range of opportunities helps prepare students for real-world, patient-centered care across multiple healthcare environments.
