Biotech Industry Leader Named Joseph Sam Distinguished Alumnus

G. Michael Wall, a 1988 University of Mississippi alumnus, has been named the School of Pharmacy Department of BioMolecular Sciences’ 2021 Joseph Sam Distinguished Alumnus Award recipient.

Wall is senior vice president and chief scientific officer at Nacuity Pharmaceuticals Inc., and vice president of pharmaceutical development for Sound Pharmaceuticals Inc.

“It was such a complete surprise, genuine honor and humbling experience to be notified this past summer as recipient of this award,” Wall said. “During my graduate program, I was privileged to receive the Nobles-Sam Medicinal Chemistry Research Award, so it is very special to receive this award in honor of Professor Sam.”

Faculty Feature: Joseph Dikun

Joseph Dikun is no stranger to the University of Mississippi and the School of Pharmacy. He has been a graduate student at the university for several years, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in pharmacy administration. This year, Dikun became one of the school’s newest faculty members and now serves as an instructional assistant professor of pharmacy administration.

Meagen Rosenthal, associate professor of pharmacy administration, has been named the inaugural interim executive director of the William Magee Institute for Student Wellbeing at the University of Mississippi.
