Spotlight on sisters Delaney and Jessica Wilson

Delaney Wilson, EE3
Jessica Wilson, P2
Hometown: Walls, Miss.

Why did you choose Ole Miss pharmacy?

DW: I live in Mississippi and I want to be a pharmacist. It was a no-brainer to choose Ole Miss pharmacy, which happens to be one of the highest ranked pharmacy schools.

JW: Being relatively close to home and still being able to pursue my career path at a highly ranked program was an opportunity I could not refuse.

Why do you want to be a pharmacist?

DW: I’ve always seen pharmacy as an avenue that allows me to gain invaluable medical knowledge and as a promise to a lifetime of learning. I also see pharmacists as the backbone of the healthcare industry, which increases my respect for my future profession.

JW: I want to have a flexible career that allows me to serve other people. I believe pharmacy fits what I’m looking for and God has allowed me to take this path.

What’s it like going through the pharmacy experience with your sister?

DW: I find it to be an extreme privilege to be able to progress in pharmacy with my sister. We are very close so it’s highly encouraging to learn alongside Jessica and share yet another avenue of experiences.

JW: It’s a blessing. We are quite close, and being able to share this unique experience is truly uplifting. I’m already stocking the Kleenex for our separation when I go to Jackson in the fall.

Do you know what area of pharmacy you might like to work in?

DW: I am currently interested in sales/marketing and regulatory affairs.

JW: I am curious about positions in industry, but I’m open to whatever opportunities present themselves.

What have you enjoyed about being a student at the UM School of Pharmacy?

DW: I have enjoyed the structure that the program has provided.

JW: I’ve enjoyed getting to interact with and learn from faculty. They are an inspiring team of leaders.
