Event held to tackle issues facing profession

OXFORD, Miss. – The School of Pharmacy hosted its inaugural Pharmacy Summit, aiming to bring together pharmacy thought leaders to begin a conversation surrounding challenges and opportunities facing the profession.

The first-ever summit focused on retail pharmacy and brought together nearly 20 community pharmacists from 12 different pharmacies across the state. The event also hosted students, faculty members and representatives from state pharmacy organizations.

Attendees took part in networking opportunities, innovative idea sharing and collaborative discussions. The primary goal of the event was to examine current trends impacting the pharmacy profession, discuss their implications on community pharmacy practices and explore how community pharmacies and educational institutions can jointly develop strategies to advance the profession.

The day concluded with a collaborative brainstorming session where attendees and faculty members discussed how the School of Pharmacy and the community can work together to shape the future of the profession through student engagement and activities.

“We are grateful to all who attended and contributed to the success of this event,” said Lindsey Miller, clinical assistant professor of pharmacy practice. “Your participation and feedback are invaluable as we continue to advance the pharmacy profession together.”
