Five New Faculty Bring Fresh Expertise
Faculty to serve in three departments
OXFORD, Miss. – The University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy is pleased to welcome five new educators to its faculty.
“We are thrilled to welcome these new faculty members to our team,” said Donna Strum, dean of the School of Pharmacy. “Each brings unique expertise that will enrich our academic community and be of great value to our students.”
Karel Alcedo will serve as an assistant professor of pharmacology in the Department of BioMolecular Sciences and a research assistant professor in the Research Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Alcedo received her Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She specializes in tissue repair, regeneration and maladaptation.
Julie Feimster is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. She received her Pharm.D. degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Feimster specializes in mental health and women’s health.
Kylie Futrell is also a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. She received her Pharm.D. degree from the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Futrell specializes in rural and public health pharmacy practice, with a particular focus in global health and medically underserved care.
Taylor Gannon will serve as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. Gannon received her Pharm.D. degree from the University of Mississippi. She specializes in ambulatory care pharmacy practice.
Chang-Hee Whang is an assistant professor in the Department of Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery and a RIPS research assistant professor. He received his Ph.D. from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. Whang specializes in organ-selective drug/gene delivery systems.
