Pharmacists from across the country will soon gather in Park City for the upcoming Sports Pharmacy Conference, a focused day of continuing education. The sessions are built around the patient-care questions pharmacists are navigating in practice, including dietary supplements, physical activity, recovery, athletic performance, injury management, and medication use.

Hosted by the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy, the conference will be held Friday, August 14, 2026, at the Westgate Park City Resort & Spa. Attendees will earn 8.0 ACPE-accredited CEs while exploring how sports pharmacy applies to active lifestyles and care across pharmacy settings.

The conference sessions will explore performance-enhancing drugs and prohibited substances; treating injuries and pain management for athletes; medication management for chronic illnesses, including mental health conditions, for athletes; dietary supplements, athletic performance and sports; and sports pharmacy practice models and sources of revenue.

Attendees will learn from faculty and pharmacy leaders helping define the field, including:

  • Noa Valcarcel, Ph.D. - Instructional Associate Professor of Pharmacology, University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy
  • Corbit Franks, Ph.D., ATC - Assistant Professor and Clinical Education Coordinator of Athletic Training Education, The University of Mississippi
  • Jessica Beal, PharmD - Founder, The Athlete's Pharmacists and Director of Clinical Services, Hobbs Pharmacy
  • Ashley Anderson, BS Pharm, MBA - Founder, The International Sports Pharmacist Network and Acute Care Pharmacist, Banner Health
  • C. Ryan Yates, Ph.D. - Research Scientist, National Center for Natural Products Research, University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy
  • Erin Holmes, Ph.D. - Professor of Pharmacy Administration, University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy

“The sessions are purposely designed to help pharmacists move from just interest in sports pharmacy to everyday application in their practice," said Stuart T. Haines, director of the Division of Pharmacy Professional Development and professor of pharmacy practice. “The speakers are excited to share their experience and knowledge to support attendees as they deliver patient-centered care and develop a range of services in various settings."

The conference serves as an entry point to the University of Mississippi Sports Pharmacy Certificate Program, which offers a structured pathway for pharmacists who want to build deeper knowledge in sports pharmacy and apply it in patient care.
