DR. PRAKASH BHAGAV received his Bachelor inPharmacy in 2002 from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, India, his Masters in Pharmaceutics in (2005) from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, India and his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics in 2011 from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, Rajasthan, India.

He worked with Piramal Healthcare Ltd (Formerly Nicholas Piramal India Ltd), Mumbai, India as Research Scientist: Formulation R & D from 2011-2012; with Panacea Biotec Ltd, Chandigarh, India as Senior Scientist: ADDR R & D for 1.5 years.

He has experience in developing Novel drug delivery systems such as CR suspensions, Extended release products for NDA filing, NCE formulations for IND filing (ophthalmic and oral), Long acting Nanocrystal Depot injections and Biosimilar products for POC and clinical trials and scaling up to commercial scale. He is also experienced in ocular formulation design, disposition and Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic evaluation in normal as well as induced animal models.

His dissertation comprised of “Design and evaluation of novel ophthalmic drug delivery systems of Brimonidine tartrate”.

The focal points of the thesis include preformulation studies, formulation development and optimization (solid ocular inserts, ophthalmic in situ gels and long acting nanoparticle formulations) and optimization, in vivo evaluation pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic evaluation in alpha-chymotrypsin induced glaucoma models.

Dr. Prakash’s research interests are Pharmaceutical product development, Novel drug delivery systems, formulation development for oral, ophthalmic products, preformulation and ocular pharmacokinetics.
