PGY1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency

Program Description

The University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy offers three comprehensive postgraduate experiences for residency training with its PGY-1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency program in Oxford and Jackson. This program provides residents with the knowledge and skills to become successful practitioners in both the community and academic settings. Program graduates will have the clinical competence and skills necessary to manage a community-based pharmacy practice, counsel and evaluate patients, teach students, and provide pharmaceutical care services.

Additional opportunities for both sites include working with the Mississippi Community Pharmacy Enhanced Services Network, CPESN, and engaging with the local community. Residents are also an integral participant in the development of student learning and curriculum implementation at the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy.

Oxford Campus

There is one resident position at the Oxford campus. Here, the resident has the opportunity to practice in innovative community-based practice. Based in Holly Springs, you have a unique opportunity to experience small-town pharmacy interactions while also learning how to impact your community and beyond at the innovative powerhouse Tyson Drug Company. Tyson Drug Company is the primary practice site for the resident on this campus, but the resident will also conduct patient care services out of the pharmacy-owned clinic Tyson Big Tree in Oxford, Mississippi.
