Brief Bio:

Ruofan Cao is a research Assistant Professor and GlyCORE Imaging Core manager. Dr. Cao received his Ph.D. from New Mexico State University in 2015. Following employment at the W.M. Keck Center for Cellular Imaging (KCCI) at University of Virginia, Dr. Cao gained tremendous experience in fluorescence microscopy. With expertise on various microscopy systems and techniques, he trained and helped KCCI users for using facility microscopes (Airyscan, confocal, multiphoton, light-sheet, FLIM, Widefield, TIRF,) and advanced microscopy imaging techniques such as FRET, FLIM, FRAP, FCS, SHG etc. He also built a novel 2-Photon adaptive optics FLIM imaging system, which will be applied to a number of biological studies including brain and ear metabolic imaging. In 2020 Dr. Cao joined the Biology department at the University of Mississippi. Dr. Cao has published numerous papers on Biomedical Optical techniques development.
