Currently working on a US Department of Defense funded research project on “New antileishmanial drug discovery from natural products”. Current research involvements are screening synthetic and natural product libraries against Leishmania donovani and Trypanosoma brucei, and follow up studies with the new antileishmanial leads. Expanded evaluation in different in vitro models and understanding the mechanism of actions of novel antileishmanial and antitrypanosomal pharmacophores. Molecular studies related to role of Histone deacetylase in leishmania parasite. Identified several Na+ -K+ ATPase inhibitors with potent antileishmanial activity.
