Research:
My current research focus is on the role of the AGE/RAGE signaling cascade in type II diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Diabetics have an increased risk for developing heart failure which arises due to stiffening of the cardiac tissue. My project aims to understand the role AGE/RAGE signaling has on stiffening of the heart tissue and identify potential therapeutic targets that could alleviate the risk for heart failure in type II diabetics.
