Integrated Learning Model
The Department of Pharmacy Practice offers courses in all years of the professional program (PY1-PY4). This scope provides the unique ability to develop students’ practice-related knowledge and skills in a longitudinal and horizontal manner. Curricular integration occurs longitudinally within departmental course series spanning multiple years (e.g. PY1, PY2, PY3 Skills Lab courses) and horizontally between departmental courses offered in the same year (e.g. PY2 Problem-Based Learning courses and Skills Lab courses). A team-based approach is utilized among Department of Pharmacy Practice faculty to develop and administer courses in this integrated learning model and annual quality assessment is a key component.
