JACKSON, Miss. – Leigh Ann Ross, associate dean for clinical affairs at the School of Pharmacy, has been appointed as the chair of the board of directors of Pharmacotherapy Publications, Inc. PPI oversees the American College of Clinical Pharmacy’s publication, Pharmacotherapy. She succeeds Edith Nutescu, who served as the chair for two years.
“Dr. Nutescu provided extraordinary leadership as chair of the PPI board of directors,” Ross said, as reported by ACCP. “This is an exciting time for PPI and ACCP, and I look forward to serving in this role.”
Along with being an associate dean and a professor of pharmacy practice, Ross is the director of the Community-Based Research Program at the School of Pharmacy, which implements clinical pharmacy services in Mississippi community pharmacies and clinics. This program won the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy’s 2012 Lawrence C. Weaver Transformative Community Service Award and the 2016 Innovative Health-Systems Pharmacy Practice Award from the Mississippi Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
Ross has also served in leadership roles in the Mississippi Pharmacists Association, the Mississippi Biotechnology Association and the AACP.
“I can’t think of a more capable leader than Dr. Ross to serve as the next chair of the board of directors,” Nutescu told ACCP. “The future of PPI is in great hands.”
Ross hopes to build upon the successes of PPI and Pharmacotherapy, as well as “expand and increase the visibility of PPI products and services.” Other plans include cultivating clinical pharmacy scholarship opportunities and involving investors to ensure the quality of PPI’s services.
