Research Advisor – Dr. Tracy Brooks
I am a PhD student in Pharmacology Division of the department, and my PhD mentor is Dr. Tracy A. Brooks. In one word, our group combats cancer. My current research focus on transcriptional regulation of c-myc oncogene by targeting G-quadruplex in the promoter region, and our approach is using self-designed Linked Nucleic Acid Clamps to stabilize the major isoform of G-quadruplex occurred in the promoter expecting silencing of the oncogene expression. Besides this, I am also working on the silencing of n-RAS mRNA on translation level. Similar “Clamp methodology” was adopted from the c-myc project except for the target of this project is the 5’- UTR of n- RAS mRNA.
