PRE-PHARMACY

UM's three-year pre-pharmacy curriculum fosters mastery of the knowledge and skills needed for admission in today's Pharm.D. programs. To enroll in pre-pharmacy courses at UM, you must submit an undergraduate application to UM and an online supplemental application to the UM School of Pharmacy.

PHARMACY

Early-entry

Many high school seniors with a minimum composite ACT score of 25 and a qualifying admission score of 65 or higher (ACT + 10 x GPA) are admitted into the School of Pharmacy through UM's early-entry program. Those selected are eligible for scholarships unavailable to other students and may avoid the competitive selection process for regular-entry admission. To be considered for early entry, you must submit an undergraduate application to UM and an online supplemental application to the UM School of Pharmacy.



Early Entry: For high school seniors only.

  1. Apply to the University of Mississippi
    • Go to the UM Admissions page
    • Select Apply Now
    • Select Undergraduate Application
    • Select Pre-Pharmacy as your major
  2. After completing the UM Application and submitting the application fee, select Special Programs & Scholarship Application
    • Select I want to sign in using my admissions application number and date of birth
    • Select Pharmacy
    • Select the Pharmacy tab to access the Supplemental Application
    • Complete the Supplemental Application and submit
  3. Submit by January 15 to the School of Pharmacy, The University of Mississippi, P.O. Box 1848, University, MS 38677
    • Resumé
    • $85 application fee (money order only made payable to the School of Pharmacy)
    • An unofficial transcript with fall semester grades.

Regular-entry

If you are completing your pre-pharmacy courses this year, you may apply for regular-entry admission to the UM School of Pharmacy's professional degree program (B.S.P.S./Pharm.D). To be eligible, you must have a scaled composite PCAT (Pharmacy College Admission Test) score of 395 and a 2.75 GPA on required pre-pharmacy courses. Regular-entry applications must be submitted online via the Pharmacy College Application Service by November 1 for admission the following August. You must take the PCAT within the calendar year in which you apply. For example, a candidate applying for admission in November 2013 to begin in the fall of 2014 would have taken the PCAT during the 2013 calendar year prior to the application deadline.



Regular Entry: For students completing their pre-pharmacy courses in the spring and desiring to enter the professional pharmacy program (B.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences/Pharm.D.) in the fall.

  1. Apply to the UM School of Pharmacy via PharmCAS before November 1. The application process is extensive, so allow ample time to complete it.
  2. Within two weeks of submitting your application to PharmCAS, you will receive an Acknowledgement Letter from the School of Pharmacy.
  3. After reviewing your completed application packet from PharmCAS (4-6 weeks), you will receive a letter informing you of your application status and, if appropriate, an interview invitation will be extended.
  4. Students selected for an interview must then apply to the University of Mississippi.
    • Go to the UM Admissions page
    • Select Apply Now
    • Select the Undergraduate Application and select Pre-Pharmacy as your major
    • Complete the Undergraduate Application and submit the application fee
    • When prompted, select Special Programs & Scholarship Application to complete the School of Pharmacy Supplemental Application
      • Select I want to sign in using my admissions application number and date of birth
      • Select Pharmacy
      • Select the Pharmacy tab to access the Supplemental Application
      • Complete the Supplemental Application and submit
    • After completing the Supplemental Application, you will receive an email acknowledgement with a link to a Biographical Supplement form. Complete the Biographical Supplement and mail it to the School of Pharmacy
  5. By January 15, submit the following items to the School of Pharmacy, The University of Mississippi, P.O. Box 1848, University, MS 38677-1848
    • Biographical Supplement form
    • $85 application fee (money order only made payable to the School of Pharmacy)
    • An unofficial transcript with fall semester/quarter grades

GRADUATE

The School of Pharmacy offers the Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmaceutical Sciences with emphases in environmental toxicology, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics, pharmacognosy, pharmacology and pharmacy administration. You must apply for admission to these graduate programs through the UM Graduate School.

  • Also visit the website of the emphasis area to which you are applying, as it will provide detailed information about pursuing a graduate degree in that area, as well as contact information for individuals who can answer questions you may have.
